An ideal location in central Hokkaido and a great powder family resort which is spread over two peaks with ten different lifts accessing a good variety of terrain options. Fortunately the lifts are in the right places and though the vertical isn’t huge (about 670 meters) the tree skiing is fantastic, it also provides good off-piste tours plus some great backcountry guiding services. There’s plenty of well-maintained high speed groomed runs on offer too and the resort also builds a respectable park and half pipe. Still relatively off the radar for most international tourists and out of the way for most of the local population so expect uncrowded slopes and no lift lines. Access to Tomamu (Alpha Resort Tomamu) is easy with a train station at the base of the ski area and a free village bus service. With a large indoor wave pool and a village of ice, there aren’t many resorts around the world that can boast these arrays of options.
