Madarao located in the north eastern part of Nagano Prefecture, between Nozawa Onsen and Myoko Kogen. The resort has 28 separate courses and 15 lifts. The ski area features a unique bowl-shape. Since Madarao was host to Japan’s first Freestyle Skiing Competition, there are many unique courses to choose from.
There are groomed courses, ungroomed courses, the Tree Run course, Free Ride Park, Kid’s Park, and wave courses. Madarao can be enjoyed by everyone from first timers to advanced skiers!
Accommodations are ski-in ski-out hotels with ski resort facilities including daytime cafeterias, a ski shop, equipment rentals, and English speaking ski and snowboard instructors are available (for private lessons). Reasonably priced child care and kid’s room are available in the resort .Kids activities include tubing, sledding and much more.

Access information

From Narita Airport

Passengers transferring from Narita Airport board the Narita Express to Tokyo Station. Traveling time – 1hour.

From Tokyo

Take the JR Nagano Bullet train(Asama) from Tokyo to Nagano(approx. 90 minutes)frequently departs throughout the day.

From 14 March2015, the Nagano / Hokuriku Shinkansen will be extended from Nagano to Kanazawa and will newly stop at Iyama Station not far from Nozawa Onsen, improving the access situation.

From Nagano

Direct bus service to Madarao Kogen operates twice a day, departing Nagano station East exit bus stop 3 or 4 at 10:10am and 2:30pm. Dentetsu Bus costs 1,500yen per person one way. Travelling time 55 minuts.

Local train departures throughout the day to Iiyama Station then take bus or taxi to Madarao Kogen. Total travelling time approx. 80 minuts.

From Narita Airport

There are also direct share/private transfer services to Madarao Kogen.Traveling duration approx. 5-6 hours.

From Nozawa Onsen

Nozawa Togari Madarao Bus runs three loop services between resorts departing from Nozawa Chuo bus terminal at 8:30am. For more informations about these services, go to http://www.no-to-ma-bus.com/english.php
